Guest Bio

Charles Phillips is a computer scientist, businessperson, veteran of the US Airforce & Marine Corps, law school graduate and philanthropist. Currently he is a Managing Partner and Co-Founder of Recognize, a technology investment firm that enables tech-service companies to digitize the world’s more analog industries.

Philips was formerly the chairman of the board of directors at Infor, the world’s third largest provider of enterprise software applications. Prior to Infor, he was President of Oracle Corporation and a member of its board of directors. He served as a Captain in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Phillips serves on the boards of American Express, ViacomCBS, the Council of Foreign Relations, and is a past member of the board of the Federal Reserve of New York. He is the Chairman of the Apollo Theater and the Co-Chair and Co-founder of the Black Economic Alliance.

Phillips holds a BS in computer science from the U.S. Air Force Academy, a JD from New York Law School, an MBA from Hampton University, and honorary doctorates from several universities. He is also a member of the Georgia State Bar.
